Power Purchase Agreements from SmartestEnergy
SmartestEnergy is responsible for around 7% of renewable electricity entering the UK grid. We support renewable energy generation at over 400 sites in the UK and deliver over 1.7Twh of renewable sourced electricity every year.
We purchase energy from a variety of renewable generation sources, including onshore and offshore wind, hydro, energy from waste, biomass, landfill gas and anaerobic digestion.
As well as the larger industrial generators, our generation portfolio includes many smaller generation customers including Biogen (UK) Ltd, a farm biomass site, a hydro-electric plant, such as Camserney Hydro in the Highlands of Scotland and community run projects such as The Westray Community Project, a wind turbine financially supported by the communities living on the Orkney Islands where the turbine is situated.
We provide our customers with a range of electricity trading products designed to meet the diverse needs of independent generators, from small project developers to portfolio operators. We aim to work in partnership with customers to maximise their energy potential whatever their generation profile. Our focus on the independent sector means almost all of our contracts are tailored solutions for the individual customers.
SmartestEnergy’s short and long term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Energy Trading Services Agreements (ETSAs) range from simple fixed price arrangements providing price certainty and a guaranteed level of income to highly flexible contracts designed to maximise opportunities in volatile markets. We also offer a range of trading options for Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs), Levy Exemption Certificates (LECs) and Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).
