I work for a company called Verdesis Services Uk ltd, based in New Mills High Peak, Derbyshire. UK. We specialise in bio-gas cleaning from landfill and sewage treatment works.
We have a number of innovative products in our portfolio including gas clean up, flares and , bio-methane injection and one I think will be interested, is our ORC turbine. This generates electricity from waste heat, converting approx. 1Mwt to 125Kwe generated power with net export of 100 ~ 105Kw. The ORC could be useful to end users of reciprocating engines, as it will allow them to optimise their existing assets.
The ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) uses waste heat.( Steam or other sources) that would normally be vented into the atmosphere as exhaust. steam/heat). The ORC generates electricity by use of a small very efficient energy module which can produce up to 125kw of power, which can be exported or used by the end user i.e. yourselves.
We are at present working closely with Biffa at their Risley landfill plant near Warrington Cheshire, where the ORC unit installed there has run faultlessly for over a 2800 hours since its installation on the 12th September 2011. The ORC is running from the exhausts of two Jenbacher J320’s
